George's Holiday Cottage, West Witton - Where Holidays Begin!

by A.J.Bishop

George's Holiday Cottage, West Witton.

George's Holiday Cottage, West Witton.

George's cottage is situated in the historic and rural village of West Witton, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The cottage over looks Penhill which is excellent for fell walking and the views from its summit are breathtaking! West Witton is well known for its historical legends and folk tales of which the,'Burning of the Bartle' is it's most famous. (This festival is celebrated at the end of August)

George's Cottage is an excellent cottage for a couple, or a family to stay in and it has been awarded four stars through Visit Britain. It is a newly refurbished country cottage which dates back to the 19th Century. It has original beamed ceilings and stripped wood floors, a new, well-equipped, oak fitted kitchen/diner, bathroom with electric power shower, a comfortable lounge with a 200 year old stone fire surround and multi-fuel stove. There is one double bedroom with a refurbished Victorian cast iron bed and views over Penhill, one children's bunkroom and a double sofabed in the lounge. There is a cottage garden with barbeque, table and chairs and a covered side passage with storage facilities for large equipment.

-------------------------------------------------------
A range of activities available for children including chocolate, teapot and cheese factories, the Forbidden Corner, horse riding, a theme park, flight simulator, aerial runway, Wensleydale Railway, museums and places of historical interest, such as Jervaulx Abbey, Ripon Cathedral and castles at Middleham, Richmond and Castle Bolton.

The Yorkshire Dales also has its own vineyard and winery, brewery, golf clubs and a range of restaurants and pubs to suit everyone's needs.

There are excellent walks to suit all, including children. Many of the walks end near a pub or a place of special interest such as, Aysgarth Falls, Bolton Castle or the Knights Templar's chapel.
