My Yorkshire
Got a story about Yorkshire?
Share it here

Picture of a tree in York dressed for Autumn

"My Yorkshire" is here for readers stories. Here is the place to share an article. Have you a favourite part of Yorkshire? Do you have a special story about somewhere or someone in Yorkshire? Maybe you'd like to take us on a trip down Memory Lane. Or could it be you and a loved one have just discovered a beauty spot you can't wait to share? I'm always happy to publish well written articles from readers. As long as it "fits" the theme I'd love to consider it for approval.

If you'd like to add your article please use the form below. Click here to make a start. I'll even add a link to your own website if you have one. You might like to check out the Website Rules before making a start.

Bradfield - by John Shimeld
Being born and bred in Yorkshire, I basically love all of it but there is one very special place that I return to time and again to admire and enjoy the unspoilt beauty. The place is Bradfield in South Yorkshire, just on the outskirts of the city of Sheffield.

Bradfield is a valley that runs along the river Loxley right up to Strines, and is actually within the Peak District National Park. Surrounded by the foothills of the Pennines, it is typified by rolling lush farmland, various natural and managed woods and a series of reservoirs; Dam Flask, Agden, Dale Dike & Strines Reservoir which provide drinking water to the residents of Sheffield, and form a beautiful backdrop to the area.

Bradfield is one of Yorkshires best kept secrets, as so far it has escaped full blown tourism and provides peaceful and relaxing recreation to those in the know. There is an abundance of footpaths and bridleways, a selection of Yorkshire Accommodation, a couple of traditional pubs and a small café in Low Bradfield village. If you would like to come and share it with me then you are welcome – but please do look after it so that it stays as it is now for eternity.
