North York Moors Railway just keeps on winning!

by Jenny Thompson
(Yorkshire, England)

This popular visitor attraction has been named Large Railway of the Year by the Heritage Railway Association - the body that covers more than 100 heritage railways and museums across the country. The railway was praised by the association for successfully operating regular steam-hauled services over the recently reconnected line between Grosmont and Whitby.

This follows hot on the heels (or should it be wheels?) of an earlier prestigious accolade only days before. Earlier in the week, the railway had been voted best visitor attraction of 2007 by the Yorkshire Moors and Coast Tourism Partnership!

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is one of Britain's leading heritage railways, running through 18 miles of countryside and attracting more than 300,000 visitors a year.
