‘Low Penhowe’ is old Yorkshire dialect for ‘the sheep pen on a hill’. Today, the house has been described as “a very elegant home” by the English Tourist Council, which has awarded owners Philippa and Christopher Turner the Council’s 5 Stars and the Gold award for their outstanding Yorkshire B&B. For the last three years we have been awarded “Yorkshire Finalist for Guest Accommodation of the Year”

A traditional Yorkshire stone-built farmhouse, with stunning views overlooking the Howardian Hills, Yorkshire Wolds and across to the North Yorkshire Moors, the house makes an idyllic spot for a quiet few nights away.

Low Penhowe is also the perfect location for anyone wishing to enter into the hustle and bustle of York, while enjoying the peace and tranquillity of rural England.

What a wonderful place to stay. The surroundings are quite exceptional. The facilities have been designed with guests comforts a prime consideration. Lost track of the date - our stay has been so restful! We have loved our stay here. The house and gardens are beautiful. Nothing has been too much trouble. The breakfast very Yorkshire and delicious.
