One of the best B&B's

by Christopher Turner
(North Yorkshire)

Low Penhowe B&B

Low Penhowe B&B

‘Low Penhowe’ is old Yorkshire dialect for ‘the sheep pen on a hill’. Today, the house has been described as “a very elegant home” by the English Tourist Council, which has awarded owners Philippa and Christopher Turner the Council’s 5 Stars and the Gold award for their outstanding Yorkshire B&B. For the last three years we have been awarded “Yorkshire Finalist for Guest Accommodation of the Year”

A traditional Yorkshire stone-built farmhouse, with stunning views overlooking the Howardian Hills, Yorkshire Wolds and across to the North Yorkshire Moors, the house makes an idyllic spot for a quiet few nights away.

Low Penhowe is also the perfect location for anyone wishing to enter into the hustle and bustle of York, while enjoying the peace and tranquillity of rural England.

But don't just take my word - here are just a few comments from guests we have been happy to welcome to Low Penhowe...
Superb B&B which was found on the website. Highly recommended, received a lovely warm welcome from Christopher and Philippa. Lovely setting with fantastic views!

A really wonderful place to stay. Our hosts have been so kind and attentive. The accommodation in this beautiful house is delightful and the breakfast was exceptional. Many thank, we will definitely come back and stay again.

What a wonderful place to stay. The surroundings are quite exceptional. The facilities have been designed with guests comforts a prime consideration. The hosts Philippa and Christopher really look after the guests. The Breakfast part of the B&B were something else, they were scrumptious.

Lynn and Doug Bullen, Wellington, New Zealand, May 2008
We loved it here; it is a beautiful B&B with an amazing landscape in which we have felt really comfortable. Chris and Philippa are great hosts and they take care of every little detail to be perfect... Also they are incredibly helpful and nice. The best B&B ever with no doubt! Angels are those people who make life easier….. Thank for being our Angels in Yorkshire

Undoubtedly the best B&B we have ever stayed in. Such good attention to detail, wonderful breakfast and very comfortable. Chris and Philippa were so welcoming and helpful, making it a truly memorable stay, Molly and the Highland cattle an added bonus!

Barry and Linda Riseman, Leigh on Sea, Essex, May 2008
A beautiful place, beautiful home and such charming and attentive hosts. What a 'find' this place is. Long may you continue to provide the exceptional service that has made our short visit so enjoyable. Thank you.

Phil and Lynda Watterson, Douglas, Isle of Man, May 2008
Lost track of the date - our stay has been so restful! We have loved our stay here. The house and gardens are beautiful. Nothing has been too much trouble. The breakfast very Yorkshire and delicious. Thank you so much Philippa and Christopher (and Molly) for making our 3 days very comfortable ones. We will recommend Low Penhowe to our friends - definitely.

Gail Lilley and Martin Clowes , Bradford, May 2008
First visit in the North of England and it was the start of an adventure. Christopher and Philippa were both welcoming and looked after us like 2 angels. The best breakfast I've had in England and the countryside, the farm animals and the colours of green and brown of the surrounding country simply made it perfect. I would suggest to anyone going to Yorkshire.

Beba Minna and Sandra Sipioni, Milan, Italy, April 2008
It is well known that God is a Yorkshireman, but perhaps less well known is the fact that he modelled heaven on Low Penhowe and how people should treat each other on how Philippa and Christopher welcome their guests. Thanks for a great stay at Low Penhowe.

John and Nell Etherington, Montrieux-en-Sologne, France, April 2008
